Five Famous Films Set in NYC

Filmed in the mid- to late 1980s, this documentary on drag ball culture was shot on Manhattan streets, at the Imperial Elks Lodge, and at the Christopher Street Pier.
This Hitchcock classic unfolds in an apartment inspired by a real one in Greenwich Village (though the movie was filmed on a Paramount Studios set).
Based on Truman Capote’s novel of the same name, the film features a scene of Holly Golightly having breakfast at Tiffany’s, which was filmed at the legendary jewelry store at 727 Fifth Avenue.
The 1961 original was shot on an LA set, but Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation was filmed in various NYC locations including Washington Heights, Harlem, Brooklyn’s Navy Yard, and even a rundown bar in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
This spooky comedy features tons of iconic NYC locations, including the Biltmore Hotel, the campus of Columbia University, and the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue.
